A Birthday and a Walk-Through

Last Wednesday was my amazing hubby's 26th birthday. We agreed that, with the purchase of a new house, we wouldn't get each other any presents but would instead spend the day doing something out of the ordinary. If you remember, for my birthday earlier in September we went to the Griffith Observatory and dinner. For Dirk's birthday we rode bikes in Corona del Mar, walked around Huntington Beach pier and had an AMAZING dinner at a small Italian restaurant in Huntington Beach called Cucina Alessa (I'm sure you're surprised to hear that I HAD to mention the food). Let me just plug the restaurant really quick because it was seriously amazing. One interesting thing about the restaurant was that they only serve water, beer or wine, no sodas. Since we don't drink alcohol we just had water which was actually a better choice than soda because the food was soooo good. If you're ever near the beach and need some really good, authentic Italian food you HAVE to go there. Here are some pics from the amazing day:

As a side note, we had our first walk-through on Tuesday before Dirk left for Philadelphia for 6 days. I can't believe that this is my last weekend living in the apartment. It is definitely a bittersweet time BUT I am very excited. Here's a couple of pics of our mostly finished kitchen, my favorite room in the house of course.

  7. Thanks Nat. No need to take the shoes off though, I'm not a big fan of that I want people to feel comfy in my house. :)
