It's Planted!

In the mornings Bax likes to go outside and lay in the sun on our deck. Here's what I found when I went to check on him this morning:

I ended up working outside for a little over 2 hours today, which is a lot shorter than what I anticipated. When I did the soil test yesterday I found that my dirt was really sandy, which I kinda already guessed. This meant that I needed to add "organic matter" to the soil. I bought some bumper from the nursery and mixed it into the soil before I began. I then planted the plants adding some bumper to the hole and some feed for the tomato plants. At the very end I smoothed out the soil and added bumper on top of the soil and of course watered it. I am now going to research the need for fertilizer, hoping that I wasn't supposed to put it in the hole when I planted it...oops! Now I guess it's time to just nurture, water and feed the plants and wait for some fruits of my labor. I'm so excited to make my first meal with veggies &/or herbs from my very own garden!

Tomorrow I'm going to plant some strawberries and thyme and put a border to separate the garden from the rest of the dirt in the backyard.

Here are some pics from today:

  1. It looks so good! I'm proud of you babes! Now I can't wait to eat some of that fresh stuff!

And next time you are at the nursery try looking for a money tree that we could plant. Thanks, that'd be great.

  2. Looks awesome! Great job. I can't wait to pick out my own vegetables in my garden. I bet it's a great feeling to eat something you grew! Oh and please pick me up one of those money trees as well :)

  3. YEAH! it looks great. I can't wait to experience a meal by Alicia and her amazing garden!

  4. Wow Alicia, you get an A+ for productivity! I'm sure your gonna have some great veggies for your meals from that garden!
My favorite though is the picture of the Bax laying in the sun! How cute is he! reminds me of my bassett hounds. They used to do that. :(
    I miss them.
