Books for Baby

As a teacher, it's expected that I'd love books but I like REALLY love children's books. Picture books not only allow you to expose your children to a plethora of reading strategies but they can also open the world to art and different mediums for making art.

Today while I was registering at Target, I came across some books I hadn't seen. One of the books that I fell in love with is Birdie's Big-Girl Shoes. The story is about a little girl who wants to wear her mom's high heels. Her mom tells her that she will have plenty of time to wear high heels when she's older. Birdie then imagines all the things she can do in her mom's high heels. The story is cute but the artwork is amazing. Just look at the front cover.

The author and illustrator is Sujean Rim. Sujean is a talented artist and fashion designer. You may recognize some of her stuff from

She also does work for Daily Candy, Tiffany's and Elle Decor, just to name a few. I really enjoy her work and wish she'd make some posters to match baby's nursery. That would be awesome!

If you're interested in seeing more of Birdie's Big-Girl Shoes go to and click the "Surprise Me" feature. You won't be dissappointed.

  1. I have been readiing Adah, A Child's Book of Grace, and I love it! It a mixture of bible stories, virtues, songs, and poems. I read it to her when she is nursing. It's the only time she will sit still. ;-)

  2. Oooh I love that artwork too! I'm going to be a copy cat and get it too- with your permission... Her work sort of reminds me of Jordi Labanda.

  3. Allison, of course I don't mind if you get that book. You're not being a copycat. :)
