I know it's been a long time since I've posted. I had no idea that prepping life for a new baby while still working full time would be so overwhelming. Seeing as I haven't posted anything for a few weeks I'll give you a quick update of what's been going on in the Dallas household.

On January 30th I had my third and final baby shower. I was so blessed by all of our amazing family and friends who came to support us and to bless us so abundantly with a ton of diapers and presents.

Here's a pic of me and the adorable cake my mom ordered from Simply Cakes.

I was so thankful that we decided to have a diaper raffle. We were so blessed with over 1500 diapers. Thank you to all of you who pitched in and congrats to Justine who won $50 to Market Broiler :)

The day after the shower Dirk and I went out with his amazingly talented step-mom, DeeDee, to take some pregnancy photos. You can check them all out at I loved all of them but this one is ONE of my favorites:

The following two weeks were full of putting baby stuff together, sorting through all of her clothes and baby gear and getting her nursery ready.

My parents have been absolutely amazing. My dad, Dirk and my brother Blake worked together to paint her nursery and put up wainscoting. It looks really cute and I can't wait to see it all together. (pics to come soon)

While the boys were working on baby's room, my mom and I sorted through all of her stuff, which was a giant feat, organized it, washed clothes and my mom cleaned my kitchen and my bathroom. I'm pretty sure I have the best family in the whole world. While things aren't completely ready for baby I am confident that if she came today we would be prepared..finally!

I'm now going to the doctor every week. I absolutely LOVE my new doctor! I'm on track as far as weight gain goes, I've gained 32 lbs. and have 2 weeks to go so I think I might just barely surpass the 35 lb. mark. My heart skips a beat every time I see the numbers on the scale but I know it's all healthy for the baby growing inside. She's been measuring about a week bigger than her due date and the doctor thinks she's going to be an 8 pounder which I suppose is a little relief because for awhile there I thought I'd be giving birth to an 11 pounder with how big I look. My blood pressure has been great, baby's heartbeat is strong and despite the lack of space in my tummy she continues to move around like crazy. The doctor checked me at my last appointment and my body is really preparing for baby. Her head is down low, and I'm dilated to about half a centimeter and softening. (sorry if that's TMI) I'm just really thankful that everything continues to go so smoothly. I have 13 more days until I'm done with work and 16 more days until my due date. I can't believe that this has all gone so quickly but it really has just flown by.

I'll be posting a few more baby related posts within the next few days and will of course keep you all updated as my labor begins. We have a site set up for baby and will share that with you as soon as we release it. Thanks for bearing with my long catch up post and for not desserting me despite my little hiatus.

  1. Alicia, I am so excited for you! I'm so glad that you've been able to get everything ready for Janis :)

I'm sure that's a huge relief for the planner in you.

I can't wait to see the pictures of the room. Please let us know if you need anything over the next few weeks, you know we'd drop everything to help you guys.

    Love all three of you!

  2. Good to get an update. That is a MOUND of diapers!!! What a blessing.

I have been thinking about you guys and praying that the delivery will go well and that you'll be able to recognize the stages of labor and remain calm through transition and push quickly. (That's not too much to ask of our Lord, right?)

Hope you have been able to see a chiro and that the shopping excursion for Grandma's second set of gear went well.

The photos are beautiful and I especially love the one where your head is in Dirk's lap. Are my eyes deceiving me or is Dirk wearing velcro shoes? I think Jackson has some just like his ;0 The denim in your outfits looks really sweet in the b&w photos too.

I know this is a little late but I saw something that matched the baby's bedding the other day... it's a Scentsy warmer called "Daisies" on page 13 of the catalog here:

Well sorry to use this comment in lieu of an e-mail, haha!
