We're back from vacation and this Manic Monday post is inspired by our vacation. We had a blast and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with all of my family but I will admit it was a lot of work. We drove about 3,000 miles and while she did way better than I expected, it still left a lot of challenges.
One of the biggest challenges was packing. There were a total of 9 of us traveling in one car and one SUV so it was necessary to pack light. Well, with a baby there's no such thing as packing light so I decided to pack tight. When I was looking for ways to store the clothes Makenzie grew out of I remembered my mom using Space Saver bags to keep all of our extra blankets and things. I saw how well those worked for shrinking down her clothes so I decided to give it a try with packing our stuff.
Using these bags, I was able to fit all of Dirk's clothes and my clothes in one suitcase, for a 12 day trip and I did not pack light. I was pretty impressed.
The only downside to packing this way is that your clothes do wrinkled so you'll have to make sure you have access to an iron.
