Baby Food Week: Peaches

Peaches...yum! These are little labor intensive but they are so worth it. They are seriously so yummy!

First wash your peaches well!

Cut the peaches in half and pit them. You will find that some peaches can be easily taken apart but others are stubborn. For your stubborn peaches, using a paring knife, start at the top of the peach by the stem and sort of cut the pit out, much like how you would core an apple.

Using a spoon or melon baller, scrape out the remaining bits of pit left in the peach.

Fill a baking dish with 1 inch of water and place peaches, cut side down.

Bake at 400 degrees until soft and tender and/or puckering skin appears. Mine went about 45 minutes.

Peel the skin off of the peaches. This part is the hard part. The skins don't pinch off like the apples do and it's almost impossible to peel them with a knife because they are so soft. I ended up cupping the peach in my hand and scraping the "meat" out with a spoon. This worked okay but did leave some fruit left in the peel. You can leave the skins on if you'd like but with Makenzie's sensitive tummy I didn't want to chance it.

Put your peaches in your blender or food processor and Voila! Yummy peaches.
