Children's Book of the Month Club

Children's books are expensive, especially when you're just starting out and you want your baby to be exposed to various types of children's literature. When I first got into the education field I joined the Children's Book of the Month club. I got a great deal back then and just recently I joined again. If you are looking to expand your child's library, joining this club is a must!

I got all of these books for a little under $12. The deal is that you get 6 books for $2 and right now you don't have to pay shipping. By joining the club you are committing to buying 4 books over the next year, but at the time you sign up, you can choose to buy any two books for only $4.95 and then you only have to buy 2 books at the full price. You also have to go online each month and decline their monthly selection or they send it to you and you have to pay the shipping to send it back or pay the bill to keep the book. That is a little hassle but the site is set up so that it's really easy and seriously takes one minute.

The downside is that their selection is somewhat limited. You're not going to find every book on this site. I'm not sure how they pick and choose but for example, they don't have "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" but they do have "If You Give a Pig a Pancake", "If You Give a Cat a Cupcake", "If You Take a Mouse to the Movies" and "If You Take a Mouse to School." I still found a ton of books that I wanted so before you sign up browse the site and see if there are books you want. I'm sure that you can find some that you'd love.

Now, here's the most important and awesome part!!! The term "book" is used loosely. There are a lot of package deals that count as 1 book. For example; the 4 Maisy books came as one set, as did the 3 Fancy Nancy books and the 2 Chicka Chicka books. Make sure when you see a set that it doesn't say in red letters "Counts as 2." There are a ton of sets that you can find that count as one book, that's the best way to get the most for your money.

I'm still waiting on one more free book that comes as your free gift, they were on back order. So altogether I got 15 books for less than $12. You seriously MUST sign up!

  1. Just completed the entire Harry Potter series for our 8-year old son. We joined a kids book club when our son was just 6 months old, and have read at least 30 minutes for him every single day, and clearly observe how far ahead of others he is now.
