2010: The Recap

It's the end of the year so you know what that means, the annual year in review. I just looked back at my recaps of 2008 and 2009. God is so good!

Janaury 2010 seems SO long ago and yet this year seemed as though it flew by...kinda of a weird feeling. I said in my 2009 recap that "I'm sure that next year's end of the year post will look much different and will have many baby pictures to share." And of course that was correct. I can't even talk about life without talking about Makenzie because she is what our lives revolve around right now.

The Best of 2010

We brought in the New Year with some of our closest friends...

Organized and decorated the new baby's nursery (although it's still not completed going into 2011...doh!)

Makenzie kept growing and growing in my tummy and the doctor said that she was going to be a 9 pounder but then she came into our world
and we found out that she was only 7lbs. 12 oz.

Our world was turned upside down and we couldn't be happier.

In March Makenzie got to meet her Uncle Adam (my brother) who is attending college in Lubbock, Texas.

In April we attended a wedding with Makenzie. I was so nervous that she would cry during the ceremony but she was such a good baby!

Also in April, we celebrated Makenzie's first Easter.

In May, we celebrated 3 years of marriage. Makenzie stayed with my parents and Dirk and I had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and perused Borders, which is something we obviously hadn't done since we had Makenzie.

In June we lost our minds and decided that a 16 hour road trip to New Mexico would be fun. Our time in New Mexico was a lot of fun but the road trip was quite an ordeal.

We visited Carlsbad, NM to see the caverns...

the Dallas family homestead where Dirk's grandpa grew up...

and celebrated Makenzie's first fourth of July with my family from New Mexico.

This summer Makenzie also got to visit Hollywood...

the Harvest Crusades (an evangelical event that our church puts on at the Anaheim Stadium)...

and the beach.

October brought on my favorite time of year. We were so excited to continue some old traditions and start some new ones. We went to the pumpkin patch...

and dressed up for Halloween...

Makenzie also started oooohhhing at everything she saw...

In November we celebrated Makenzie's first Thanksgiving, first with our small group Bible study

and then with my family...

In December we also started new traditions and kept with old ones. We took Makenzie to the snow for the first time...

and saw the awesome Christmas Lights on Thoroughbred Street.

and of course she was spoiled with a ton of toys on Christmas Day.

2010 was a whirlwind of a year but we had such a blast watching our princess grow up. It started with a lot of uncertainties but as the year progressed God was faithful, as He always is. I am beyond thankful that I am able to stay home with Makenzie and take care of her and Dirk and our home. We have been so blessed and God has provided for our every need.

I hope you all have a wonderful New Year. I look forward to continuing this blog journey and connecting with you all. But most of all I look forward to seeing what God has in store for our family in 2011. Happy New Year!

  3. I did not Dirk's family was from New Mexico! How neat to be able to show that to Makenzie. Also, I love that you said you lost your minds, haha! I feel the same way about traveling with kids.
