Real Simple's Meal Planner & Shopping List
I love organized lists. I am often teased when people see my grocery list because I always divide it into 4 sections: produce, staples, dairy and meat. While it works for me, I've been wanting to create a computer template that I can use to plan meals AND my shopping list. Well I don't need to make one now because Real Simple has an amazing weekday meal plan and shopping list that you can get in their latest issue or download here.
I haven't used it yet but I am so excited to!
Here's how you use it: (taken from Real Simple magazine Jan. 2011 issue, page 66)
1. Decide on your weekday dinners and write them in the menu column
2. Write down the ingredients you'll need to buy for each dinner in the appropriate columns to the right, which corresponds to the aisles of most supermarkets. Use the misc. section for unrelated purchases...
3. Grab your list and head to the store. Shop down each column and you're good to go for the week.
Although meal planning and grocery shopping isn't one of my favorite things right now, I definitely think this will help the process to be a lot smoother. I hope you enjoy as much as I'm going to!
